El Retiro sits above 2,100 metres, so the air stays cool year-round and evenings turn genuinely chilly. Worth telling guests to bring a layer for after sunset.
Antioquia's east has two rainy seasons: April–May and September–November. The chapel, the indoor hall and the covered terrace all work as a plan B without moving the celebration.
The native woodland behind the gardens doubles as an open-air dining room, tables set among the trunks and string lights hung from the branches. It is the most photographed corner of the estate at dusk.
